stuff is just stuff

Our car got broken into the other night. We live in a very small town, and most everyone leaves their cars and houses unlocked. A couple nights ago, someone took advantage of that, and went through town taking things out of people's cars. We heard Bo barking in the middle of the night (he sleeps in the house); Zac checked out the window, but didn't see anything. In the morning we saw my purse and wallet thrown in the yard. We think they heard the dog barking and took off. They got $102 cash, my canon powershot sd1400 (digital point & shoot camera), and all of our CD's. We found our garage door opener in our neighbor's yard the next day. They left my ipod, and our debit and credit cards. At first I was so frustrated with myself, because I never leave my purse in the car. Live and learn, and move on though...no point in dwelling on what could have been done different. About 5 cars on campus had things stolen out of them, and several more were rifled through. It's such a violating feeling being robbed. And while I'm really bummed about my camera, God has really helped me see that stuff is just stuff. Our CD's were all backed up on itunes, I can eventually get a new camera, and my Dad already offered to replace the cash that was stolen. God is faithful, and it really isn't as big a deal as I first felt like. We now have to remember to lock our doors at night and when we leave...it's funny because it seems like such an inconvenience...but just about everywhere else it's a normal part of life. We don't even have a second set of house keys...we'll have to fix that soon.
On a brighter note...we are coming to Washington in a week and a half...July 30th-August 14th to be exact. We REALLY would like to see any of you that live there during our visit. Right now, we don't have much planned, so email us, or give us a call so we can set up a time to hang out. Hope to see you soon!

Our faithful guard dog, who would probably never hurt a fly, but will bark at anyone or anything that goes by on the road. :)
