Who will tell them?

So we had this realization this morning. Zac was teaching in an English club Wednesday evening and discussing things with Turkish students who are learning conversational English. He was getting rather annoyed at the underlying immorality and corruption that was showing through in their thoughts that they were sharing, but was understanding that they had no reason to share otherwise...they have no reason to live morally. The frusteration was not so much geared toward the students personally but the long to disciple these students and challenge them in their way of thinking...but being in a setting where that would be unacceptable and get our team kicked out of the English club and not welcome to come back. You see...Turkey does have freedom of religion but anything other than the Islamic faith just simply is not welcomed or accepted in general. One on one things are a little different though. So we go about sharing our faith with individuals we meet and are able to have conversations with. Otherwise we go about our day loving those we come in contact with and trying to show them Jesus in the most simple of ways. Anyway...that was a rabbit trail not the realization :) While talking about the frustration of not being able to disciple people, we had the thought "Who is going to tell them about Jesus?" This is a country where 99.9% of the population would declare themselves a Muslim. Even if they were looking for something different, they probably wouldn't know where to find it. It's not like in America, where, even if some one does not know who Jesus is, there are churches all over the place. Here, you have to look hard to find a church. This hit us hard. It's so worth giving up our comforts for. Turkey is a hard nation to be in. Physically it is quite comfortable and western...but the spiritual atmosphere is the hardest I have ever been in. It is extremely heavy and oppresive. It's worth the fight though. Jesus loves these people and longs for them to know...but how will they know it unless someone comes to tell them?
